Top Tags / Top Taggers

Hi graziano,

I'm afraid I don't quite understand.  The only pages with the tag cloud on the right side are the main page (forums.ni.com) and the category pages (Most Active Software Boards).  But these pages already have other modules on the right side, so the tagging module fits in there.

On the board and thread pages, the tag cloud is at the very bottom of the page.

Is this the tag area you are referring to?  Or is it something different?

JLV - Our other option for the tag button is on the left near the date and time of the message.  I tested it out in this location for a while and didn't like it as much, but I'd be willing to switch.  Maybe in a few weeks we can have a poll!

Thanks,
Laura

Ah! I see the Tagging fully active now.Smiley Happy

I agree it does take up a lot of space, add positioning at the bottom it will probably get forgotten. Why not make it float so you can position it at the top, like you can do with messages.

Hi Laura!
On the main forum page tags are okay, that's really well placed, differently from the images I posted above.... maybe the forums page was in maintenance? That day I saw only tags on the right.... now it's fine!

Thanks again, and have a nice day!

Comments on tags

I started some tagging this week-end.

Since it is still early in the tagging process, I'd appreciate some feedback, good or bad on what has been done so far.

If we start this off right we may have a useful tool.

So...

Too many tags?

Should we be more specific of less?

Please share your thoughts!

Hi,

Quite agree with you, or we will end up with multiple links to the same page

Hi Ben,
Since few people are able to tag, and not all are interested in tagging, I supose most of the tags I see are yours...

I navigate here and there with tags, and they seems to be useful.

I still think that it's better to leave tagging opportunity to "experienced" forum users (enthusiast/champions).  What about it?  I saw other sites, where everybody can tag, in which many tags were totally unrelated and misleading about the subject (this time it wasn't my poor english's fault Smiley Very Happy ).

   Have a nice day!

Hi Ray,

You wrote "Quite agree with you, or we will end up with multiple links to the same page"

Should we try to guard against that?

I would think some of our best threads (like Greg McK' s post on were to put control for re-use) should end up with mutliple tags so that they end up in big font.

I don't know!

I haven't tried any Tags, so it depends on whether the mechanism hightlights a Tag of same name already exists. Its ok searching the list of Tags at the moment, but if and when there are loads of Tags, it will become impossible to use.
