I have a corrupt NI Switch Executive virtual device on my system. It shows up in MAX, but crashes MAX if I try to access it or delete it. How do I wipe the virtual devices clean? I have installed and uninstalled Switch Executive. I have tried to overwrite it with a virtual device of the same name.. It's just plain hosed.. Where is this data stored in LV 2009 SP1, SE 3.0 so I can delete it..

Hi GR LV,
Try walking through the MAX Database Corruption Removal Process. All of this information should be contained in the configuration files of the Data folder. Let me know if you are still having issues after this!

I tried that, but it's a vista machine and I can't seem to stop any of the services either through the command line or the service manager without getting an access denied error. What am I missing? I'm pretty sure the account is an administrator account, but I'll check to be sure.

Most likely you are running into User Account Control issues. This is one of many results about UAC control found on the web specifically regarding the command line.

Once I got the services to stop, the procedure desribed was sufficient to clean the configuration from MAX. Thank You!!
