NI-Serial does not install on RT Target

Hello,

We have NI Developpers Suite 2011 installed on a Windows 7 PC and a RT NI-PXI System with 8102 RT Controller.

We need to use the RT Controller COM Port for serial data communication. I learned that we need to install NI-Serial on the RT System to be able to do so.

Unfortunately we have issues in installing NI-Serial V3.8.1 on the RT device.

I installed NI-Serial on the Windows PC and I can see it in the MAX-Explorer - so far so good.

But when I try to install it on the RT System (via MAX) NI-Serial does not appear on the list of SW to install.

Any suggestions on how to install NI-Serial on RT System are welcome. System information will be uploaded soon.

Hi Norman,

I think you forgot to install the RT-Version of the driver.

Here is a KB which explains how to install it.

Hi,

thanks for the answer. Actually today we found the solution. Obviously we had some permission issues within our setup. When operating as Admin I could instal the NI-Serial on the RT.
