Any NI FPGA control board support SL2-100 protocol?

Hello,

I've researched about SL2-100 data transfer protocol and NI support for several weeks. But I have not found anything. Is there any NI FPGA device support this protocol?
This protocol supports real time data communication with 20 bit resolution, and is supported by Scanlab RTC5 control card based on FPGA. I would like to know about that.

And Is there anyone use this protocol with NI products?

Thanks in advance.

Hello G.Sungur!

For now, devices like the cRIO that you can program the FPGA, we only support this type of Industrial Communications: https://www.ni.com/en/shop/seamlessly-connect-to-third-party-devices-and-supervisory-system.html

Hello andmboa7,

Thanks for reply. I read a case study on NI web site.

Link here: https://www.ni.com/en/solutions/academic-research/case-studies/developing-a-quality-inspection-metho...

Using XY2-100 protocol on PXI-7853R R Series multifunction RIO module, they achieved fast and real-time control. I think XY2-100 protocol same as SL2-100 data transfer protocol. Of course, there are differences. Maybe SL2-100 protocol implement on these NI FPGA control boards.

Also, there is third-party XY2-100 communication C module for cRIO. But we need to SL2-100 standards. if i have NI support, I can achieve this protocol using NI products.

Thanks again.

Hi Mr. Sungur,

I am working on project to interface SL2-100 protocol. Would you happen you have any info which you could share?

Thank you,

Hi!

After 1 year have you found any information about SL2-100 protocol? I'm developing an application for Raylase laser scanner and I need to use this protocol with cRIO. Anyone can help me? Thanks 🙂

Hello,

Maybe it's too late to join the conversation, but I'm trying to find out what's the difference between XY2-100 protocol and SL2-100 protocol. Especially I'm interested in difference between these protocols in laser scanning systems. Could you please reply me it you have some relevant information?

Best wishes,
Pavel

Hello Pavel

do you have any news on XY2-100 Protocol on LV-FPGA?

XY2-100 protocol is 16bit command resolution, that is the most popular in the laser material processing industry with galvo scanhead. Scanlab (www.scanla.de) has come up with it's own protocol SL2-100 with 20bit command resolution.

The purpose is same for both however Sl2-100 have higher bit resolution so it give more accuracy, precision, repeatability.

I also heard 24bit GSBus command resolution from Cambridge Technology (www.cambridgetechnology.com). This is truly a game changer.

Unfortunately, 20bit and 24bit is proprietary of those companies, so it would be challenging to find technical spec

Hi G.Sungur!

Did you get more detailed information about SL2-100 protocol? I am also trying to figure out how it works but no idea about it. Hopefully, I get waveform when it's working, it looks like using Manchester or some encrypted Encoding. I hope it will help you.
