PXIe-1078 chassis not detected, but individual cards are detected

Hi,

I am having an issue with a PXIe-1078 chassis not being detected in MAX, but all of the individual cards are detected.  The system is connected to an external pc through a copper MXI cable.  This system was working fine a week ago, but now it will not work.  I have had the issue previously, but restarting the pc usually fixed it.  I have tried reinstalling NIDAQ, PXI Platform Services, etc. I have tried different pcie slots for the MXI cards.  I checked device manager and everything seems OK and all of the cards are displayed with no errors.

I am running out of troubleshooting ideas.

Hi,

Have you tried resetting the NI MAX database? Sometimes you might have corrupted MAX database. Resetting the database might solve this issue.

You can considering upgrading NI PXI platform services -  Compatible versions listed here - https://www.ni.com/en-in/support/documentation/compatibility/15/ni-pxi-platform-services-hardware-su...

You can manually add the chassis from NI MAX - https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA00Z0000019LOfSAM&l=en-IN

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I have already reset the database multiple times and the manual process does not apply to a PXIe chassis.  I don't want to update MAX past v18.5, cause we have SCXI chassis that are not supported any more.  I am not sure if I can update PXI platform without updating MAX.

I do not think, it is a chassis issue. I strongly believe that it is related MXI interface/compatibility issue with PC.

If this is a new PXIe 1078 system connected to new PC - I would recommend you to check the MXI controller firmware and update if you are running with an older version (for example PXIe 8360 updates are available here- https://www.ni.com/en-in/support/downloads/software-products/download.pxie-8360-firmware-and-additio...)

Update your PC BIOS (if you are running with an older version)

Lastly, you can install MXI-Express BIOS Compatibility software - https://www.ni.com/en-in/support/downloads/drivers/download.mxi-express-bios-compatibility.html#3311...

If none of the above mentioned steps works - you may have to change the PC.

Thanks for the suggestions, but the odd thing is that the system worked fine on the same computer, but then one day the pxie chassis stopped being recognized.  Unfortunately, these computers are fairly locked down due to corporate IT policies and I can't do much to try to troubleshoot.  Also, we have 3 systems that are all doing the same thing, so I am thinking that there may be some software issue.
