Delfim,
The behaviour you are describing is not normal. I would like to suggest you a couple of troubleshooting steps that you could follow, but you might want to contact us directly so we can help you troubleshoot over the phone. To do this, please create you service request number at
http://www.ni.com/ask and give us a call.
The following are the troubleshooting steps I woudl like you to follow:
1) Turn off the PC and the PXI chassis. Install just the PCI-MXI-3 board in your PC. Then install the PXI-MXI-3 board in the first sot of the PXI chassis and one PXI board (for example the 6071E board) in any other slot in the PXI-1011 chassis. Make sure that the MXI-3 cable is well connected to both the PCI-MXI-3 and the PXI-MXI-3 baords.
2) Turn on the PXI chassis. The PXI-MXI-3 board has 4 LEDs in its front panel: Power (green), Link (green), Transmit (orange) and Receive (orange). When you turn on the PXI chassis (and the PC is OFF), a green light (power) and an orange light (either the transmit or the receive) should be ON all the time.
3) Turn on the PC. Both orange lights in the PXI-MXI-3 board should begin to flicker, and the two green lights (power and link) should be ON steadly.
4) If the computer boots fine, install the
MXI-3 Optimization Software and run it. You should not get any error.
5) Make sure that the PC can see the PXI-6071E board in the Device Manager.
If all this works, then turn off your PC and PXI chassis and configure your system following the isntructions in
KB 1NFF457T : Configuring a PXI-1010 or PXI-1011 Chassis.
You can also find some good troubleshooting tips in
KB 267FAS5P : MXI-3 Troubleshooting Guide.
Please feel free to contact us directly by creating your service request number at
http://www.ni.com/ask and specifying that this is a PXI question.
