Teststand 4.2.1 with Windows 7

While I try to run some sequence file in teststand 4.2.1 sequence editor in Windows 7 (32 bit) OS, the error occurs with message popup shows “The Problem caused the program to stop working correctly.Windows will close the problem and notify you if a solution is available". Sometimes sequence working fine but sometimes I am getting this error. Same sequence in teststand 4.2.1 with windows XP working fine. Can anyone give me solution for this?

You'll need to provide a lot more information. That is just a generic error that occurs when an application crashes. There are many reasons why an application might crash. What were you doing when the error occurred? What does your sequence do? is it always happening on the same step?

Refer to NI's product lifecycle page, it is not explicitly declared that TS4.2 is upported to Win7, although in practice we can run most Test Seq compiled with TS4.2 in Win7, with TS4.2 runtime engine or seq editor.

In fact I observed incompatibility issues, easily to be duplicated:

In a Win7 with TS4.2, simply create a blank sequence, insert a 'Message Popup' step with a picture,

execute it, you can see there is an error come out.

With this, my opinion is that we should avoid develop new test programs with TS4.2 on Win7.

Solution Found:

  •  Delete cvirte.dll from c:\windows\system32
  •  Go to control panel,=> Programs and Features,  find National Instruments, click on it for repair.  Find the CVI component and run the repair.
