Teststand 4.0 Deploy with Labview 8.5

I am trying to build a Teststand deploy / installer with Teststand 4.0 and Labview 8.5.

It appears as though it is able to create the deploy image but when it starts building the install I get a popup

Insert the CD or browse to the location where the following component is located:
NI LabVIEW 8.5.
The last directory this component was found was:
D:\

I have insert the labview 8.5 CD in the drive but when I click OK it still wll not continue and I get the same popup.

I have tried the teststand 4.0 disk as well as all the driver CD that came with the third quarter 2007 NI developers suite.

One thing I am suspicous of is that the first time I tried to build it asked for the Teststand CD which I installed and it seemed to like it but unfortuantly while it was installing stuff from the Test stand CD my computer locked up due to another application I was running while teststand was building my deploy. If you feel this might be part of the problem, how do I make test stand ask for the Teststand CD again during the deployment process???

Thanx

Hi Kiebach,

1. Are you including any additional installers in your distribution?
2. If so, which ones?
3. Have you ever successfully built the distribution before (you said it crashed once)?
4. If so, did you run the distribution on the same machine that it was built on?

Did you ever figure out what your problem was? I am experiencing the same issue.

Hi RGarron,

I have a couple things you could try:

1.) When creating the TestStand deployment, include the LabVIEW 8.5 Runtime Engine by clicking the Installer Options tab in the deployment dialog box.  Then click Drivers and Components and select the LabVIEW Runtime.

2.) Then configure your LabVIEW adapter to use the RunTime Engine as opposed to the Development System.  This can be done by going to Configure -> Adapters and then configure the LabVIEW adapter.

I hope this helps!

Hi Matt,

1.) I included the LabVIEW Runtime Engine when I created the deployment. I have a question however do I first have to "mass compile" and rebuild the Full-Featured User Interface as it seems to have been built with LabVIEW 8.2.

2.) Are you saying to configure this on the Deployment System or the Developement System?

Thanks,

RG

Hi RGarron,

1.) You shouldn't have to mass compile the user interface.  It should work with LabVIEW 8.5

2.) I would recommend configuring the adapter on the Development System and then rebuilding the deployment.

I hope this helps!

I Mass Compiled the 4.0 TestStand directory rebuilt the User Interface and now everything seems to be fine.

I also installed the Device Driver CD onto the Development system which helped me get passed the prompt for the LabVIEW 8.5 CD.

Thanks,
RG

Hi Kiebach,

I have the same problem when building deployment:
In progress of building Deployment Utility requested Install CDs of TestStand 4.0, LabVIEW 8.2 and LabVIEW 8.5. First two CDs works fine, but LabVIEW 8.5 CD get always the same popup dialog.

The advice from Matt_S (configure LabVIEW Adapter to RunTimeEngine) was not succed on my system. Did you find any solution for this problem?

Thanks
Christian

When building deployment installs you will need the same version of the CD that installed the component your are including.   For example, if you have a LabVIEW 8.5.0 and an 8.5.1 they are generally NOT interchangeable as the components on them are different versions.  If you put in the 8.5.1 CD when the system wants the 8.5.0 CD it will prompt for the LAbVIEW 8.5 CD again.

Hi Rick,

thank you for reply. Sadly, that's not the reason of problem.

Activated version of LabVIEW is 8.5 and VIs including in TestStand was written in this version. Deployment Utility request CD 8.5 (refer pictures in attachement). But original Install CD "LABVIEW850" will not accept from Deployment Utility.

Kind regards
Christian
