NI Package Manager 2023 Q3 released!

NI has released Package Manager 2023 Q3 this week.

Notable features include:

  • Added support for custom directories, such as D:\my directory\, when specifying where a package installs files.
    • Note that "package builder" applications, like LabVIEW and NI Package Builder, will need to expose this capability before it is available in those applications.

  • Package Manager allows feed URLs to redirect when download package from hosted web services, such as GitHub, and OneDrive.

    • NIPM previously returned an error with the message "Redirection to another URL is forbidden."

  • You can now manually disable specific feeds in Package Manager's Settings window.
  • Documented existing arguments for automating an installer, specifically --prevent-activation--hide-completion, and --autoinstall-nipkg.
  • Documented existing configuration options that control the behavior of Package Manager, that you can set using nipkg.exe config-set.
    • Added a new option nipkg.enable-NI-connectivity, which when set to false disables features that contribute to timeout delays on systems that cannot connect to ni.com.

  • Documented the list of nipkg.exe commands supported.

Refer to the NI Package Manager Release Notes and Manual pages for additional information.

Hi Scott,

Still no plan to add NIPM to Microsoft's winget?

This (or other similar tools/install options) is the missing part to fully automating NI software installs from A to Z on the command line or in scripts. And it would greatly simplify the current process (go to ni.com, search, download, install) by doing that in one command.

See: https://forums.ni.com/t5/NI-Package-Management-Idea/Simplify-NI-software-install-by-using-winget/idi...

Thanks!
