Unable to reserve a DAQMX on Linux (error -88705)

Apologies if this is wrong group [please redirect if needed].

I had a NI-DAQMX (NI-9185) connected to a Linux PC. All working well, then there seems to have been an update and now it refuses to connect.

I have eventually managed to remove all software and reinstall.

I am able to perform nilsdev -v (not much use as it seems to remember the previous state anyway) and nidaqmxconfig

nidaqmxconfig --find-net-devs

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hostname Type IP Address
------------------------------------------------------------------------
cDAQ9185-1CFB57C.local NI cDAQ-9185 192.168.1.180

nidaqmxconfig --add-net-dev 192.168.1.180 --name DAQ
Success
Added: DAQ

nidaqmxconfig --reserve DAQ
Failed

Error -88705
The specified device is not present or is not active in the system. The device may not be installed on this system, may have been unplugged, or may not be installed correctly.
Device: DAQ

The device works ok on a Windows PC connected to the same network.

What do I try next?
nidaqmxconfig for DAQmx 21.3 on Linux 64-bit
nilsdev for DAQmx 21.3 on Linux 64-bit
