move pins (pads)

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi,

There's a lot of components that are not in the Multisim database, so I create a new one and place it in my schematic.

Now I want to route it, and of course the pins (pads) are not exactly where I want (related to the individual component).

Can I just move a pin in Ultiboard?

I tried it but it's locked.

My case is for a Nixie Tube IN-12A

When using the wizard to create a new component it's only allowing me to select a package: "Select from Database".

So I selected a 12 pin component, which is perfectly round, just so I can carry on with my schematic.

But on Ultiboard the layout for these Nixie Tubes is the wrong one.

How can I adjust the location of the individual pins for these Nixie Tubes?

What other options do I have?

Thanks

Hi,

In Ultiboard, you should run the part wizard.
Make a part with 12 pins as you need, specify holes and pads etc.
D'ont worry if you're not sure , you can still change it a the end of the procedure.

At the end you will get a part with pins that are not in the right position, but then you can change them to any position.
Once you finished the part, and the silkscreen (text) etc , you can save it to the user database with a correct name, fi NIXIE_IN12A.

Then you can go back to your schematic and connect the new footprint to the schematic symbol you had chosen.
(In a perfect world you would also make a dedicated Nixie symbol)

Good luck!
