Shortest connections between pads / variable angle

How can I instruct Ultiboard 10.1 not to use only 45/90 degree angles but to use variable angles for traces in order to connect two pads in the shortest manner?

This is desirable when parts are aligned in other directions than 0/90 degrees, otherwise possible straight traces were routed in a zick-zack manner.

You can control what angles Ultiboard allows for lines (although it does not appear in the default user interface). To make this easy, you will want to customize the user interface to add a few commands.

1. Open up a design (you want to be looking at a design because Ultiboard allows you to have different toolbar configurations for different kinds of documents).

2. Options > Customize User Interface

3. On the Commands Tab, select the Place Category

4. Drag and drop the following commands to the Place menu

    a. Place 45 degree lines

    b. Place all angle lines

    c. Place dialogal lines

    d. Place orthogonal lines

5. Click close to close the Customize dialog

6. You now have four new items in the place menu. You can switch between the modes to restrict what types of lines Ultiboard will draw (the default is 45 degree lines)
