problems PCI-M10-16XE-10 control

Problem description:

-The  PCI-M10-16XE-10 has been installed and is seen by the opeating system under device manager/data aquisition devices and reported to function properly

- After installation of the traditional NI-DAQ distribution 7.4.4 the measurement and automation explorer gives an error 42HG08DD (NI configuration manager not running)

- It turns out that  the system has tried to start (services) this configuration manager automatically but it has been stopped.Starting it again stops it and yields the error code -1.

- The systems uses MacAfee virus protection. have tried to set the configuration manager on an approved list but no success.

Suspect that MacAfeesomehow blocks the NI processes.

a) Two questions arise: is the software package from NI the right one?

b) IS MacAffe the problem and how to circumvent it?

The ultimate goal is to controlthe PCI-M10-16XE-10 with VB6 and NI Measurement studio.

Thanks

haJueRi,

Thank you for posting on the NI forums. The PCI-MIO-16XE-10  is compatible with the Traditional DAQ 7.4.4 driver as well as the DAQmx 8.8 driver. It is possible that MacAfee is giving you this problem with the NI Configuration Manager. If you look at the linked document it gives directions of how to unblock these programs from a MacAfee blocked list. Let me know if this helps.

Why Do I Get a Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) Database Connection Error?

Thanks Aaron

this confines the problem to MacAffee. However, i do not know where to find the list of processes that MacAffee blocks. The MacAffee version is 8.5.0i and I tried putting the NI processes intothe low-risk processes listed under On-scan Access Properties.. This does not help.

Thanks

haJueRi,

If putting the NI processes into the low-risk process list does not fix the problem I would recommend trying some of the other potential solutions that are mentioned in the document and see if those help at all. If none of those help let me know and I will look into the problem further.

Aaron,

there is more information on the problem now. Most likely, MacAffee is not the problem as it was uninstalled and the error persists. I have now an error code that is generated when one tries to start the NI configuration manager:

"The NI Configuration Manager service terminated with service-specific error 4294967295 (0xFFFFFFFF)."

There is another DAQ card installed in the system which was shipped together with a component that is controlled from the PC. The card is listed under "DAS Component PCI-DIO24". The software that runs this card is from Measurement Computing. May be there is a conflict between the NImax and the MCC?

haJueRi,

Was the other DAQ card installed after or before the NI device? It is possible that the MCC software could have effected the NI Configuration Manager, but I am not sure. If this problem started after installing the T-DAQ drivers then that could imply a conflict between that driver and the MCC software. You might try and re-install the T-DAQ driver and see if this might help the problem.

Aaron,

the MCC software was running on the system for a long time and the NI was installed thereafter, several times. Also, disabling MCC card did not help.

Hi,

I found that some other people had similar issues when using the NI Configuration Manager with McAfee anti virus software.  Some people were able to get this fixed by disabling McAfee's Redirector Services.  The link below shows how to properly disable this in the McAfee software.

Disable McAfee's Redirector services

Also, I see that Aaron referenced the article "Why do I get Error 1067 with the NI Configuration Manager and/or Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX)?".  Were you able to try all the steps that the article defined?

thanks - MacAfee was completely removed by one of our IT experts. That means this is not the reason.  There is neither a MacAfee redirector or a MacAfee proxy service running.

- I Tried #2 of the list and the configuration manager would not start

- #3: There is no ENET device- at least I don't know about it. The system has a NI GPIB card, 2 serial connections and one USB with a serial converter which all work and are needed. There used to be more USB devices on there and also other serial devices. All of these have been uninstalled and there appears to be no sign of any leftovers. Where would I have to look to see whether there is something left? In the device manager nothing can be seen.

- #4: does not apply - the configuration manager is not running.

Have you ever had this card working with this computer or another computer?  Do you have any other National Instruments software installed before you installed traditional DAQ (If so, what software)?  It sounds like you uninstalled and reinstalled Traditional DAQ many times already.  What was the uninstallation process used?  Also, we do have updated DAQmx drivers on our website available to see if this resolves the error.  The newest DAQmx version 8.9 will work with your PCI-M10-16XE-10 and VB 6.0.
