nidevmon.exe-application error

I tried, but in the restored configuration I don't see the message nidevmon.exe - application error,
but the Database connection error - contact National Instrument

Hi Vix,

You mentioned that you saw the KnowledgeBase documented I linked to in an earlier post in this thread on how to solve a database connection error.  Could you let me know exactly what steps you tried in this, and where you are stuck in this process?

Hi Elizabeth,
I tried this steps:
-disabled WinXP Firewall (under Control Panel » Administrative Tools » Services)
-set  Program Files\National Instruments\ folder  (and all its subfolders) under exceptions in McAfee Antivirus 7.1
- checked that NI Configuration Manager is started
- followed the instructions for Database corruption

I'm confused because I used MAX and my .exe for several months on this PC, before I saw the first error message
C:\Programmi|National Instruments|MAX\nimxs.exe not found

Everything I tried seems to be unhelpful Smiley Sad Smiley Sad
And what about the blue screen with the viaagp1.sys error? The PC doesn't boot anymore after a complete NI-components reinstallation, so I must select use last working configuration, but I have the nidevmon.exe application error.

Thanks for the clarification.  Two more questions for you:

  • I'm assuming you have SP2 for Windows XP; is this correct?  If not then you should upgrade to SP2.
  • Are you able to open an empty project in LabVIEW 8.2.1 without errors?

Yes, you're right

  • Are you able to open an empty project in LabVIEW 8.2.1 without errors?

Currently I haven't LabVIEW 8.2.1 installed on this PC. It's not the one I use for development.
But if you think could be helpful I can install the LabVIEW 8.2.1 environment.
Let me know.

Thanks

Hello Vix,

Don't worry about installing LabVIEW 8.2.1.  This issue should be handled through technical support.  Please create a either a phone or an email service request for this issue at http://www.ni.com/ask.

Thanks to the NI technical support I solved my problem uninstalling ALL the NI software with the utility MSIblast, then deleting all broken/unused registry entry with the freeware CCleaner, and at the end re-installing my application.

"nidevmon.exe - Application Error.
The Application failed to initialize properly ( 0xc0000142). Click OK to terminate the application"

This message appears at each start of Windows, when I installed

NI-DAQmx 8.6, german edition

on my  english W2k_server system, on which Labview 7.1 ( student edition ) is already installed ( just disk 1, so no device installation ),
and NI-DAQmx_base 3.0,

JUST IF I enable the installation option "Labview 7.1 Support" = "Unterstützung von Labview 7.1" ( german).
If I do NOT enable this option, I don´t get the error message at the start of Windows.
Is it important to enable this option for me ?!

In fact, my computer CRASHED with bluescreen when rebooting after the installation of NI-DAQmx 8.6 totally,
again and again,
and I was JUST able to recover it by using the Windows option "last working configuration".
After that Windows booted again ( ok now ), and I was NOT able to access the MAX database by the  M&A Explorer.
After "reparing" the DAQmx installation by the "Control Panel / "Add /Remove Programs" / "National Instruments Software - Change/Remove",
I was able to conect to the database.
But lasting was this startup error, mentioned above.

Btw, NI-DAQmx 8.6 HAS the option "Labview 7.1 Support" = "Unterstützung von Labview 7.1", while NI-DAmx_base 3.0 does NOT offer this option.
Does this mean that NI-DAQmx_base 3.0 is not "intended" to be used with Labview 7.1 ?!

Is there any problem to have NI-DAQmx 8.6 and NI-DAQmx_base 3.0 together on one computer ?
Maybe I did install NI A&M Explorer "twice" on my system, so that one of them fails now ?
But I don´t see that I can correct that ? I can´t deinstall the NI A/M Explorer with the installation software ?!

I would like to "emulate" devices for development of my student project, so I installed "all that I can".

Btw, I would like to stay with Labview 7.1 on this computer, due to the need for activation of Labview 8.x ( which I hate ).

Sincerely
Rolf

The problems you described are the same I had some months ago: but I solved them uninstalling all with the MSIblast utility (not Windows "Add/Remove software", or other uninstall programs).
Have you already tried this suggestion?

I just read about the remove utility here in this thread,
thanks alot for mentioning it,
I will have a try soon,

Btw, I did NOT find a "homepage" for the utility - with which tool is it supplied ?

In fact, on the computer, before Labview 8.2.1 was installed and deinstalled...

I am not shure whats NOT running on my system improperly currently ( can I ignore the error message )?

Sincerely
Rolf
