measuring temperature

Hi,

Firstly, please forgive me for any stupid questions as I am still a beginner at DAQ. I shall begin:

I am trying to measure and record temperatures ranging from 0 to 100 degrees celsius.
Should i use a DMM or DAQ board?
Also, is an RTD or thermocouple (or some sort of transducer) ALWAYS necessary?
I have heard that cold junction compensation is needed for thermocouple use. Are there DMMs or DAQ boards with built in cold junction compensation?

Thank you very much in advance,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

You would want a DAQ board not a DMM to measure temperature. Have a look at the tutorials and application notes on our web page for more information:

If you want more information on possible hardware then I would recomend phoning in and talking to our Internal Sales Engineers (01635 572410) who will be able to talk in more depth about your application.
