First, what drivers are you using? I would recommend bein g on both the latest DAQmx as well as NI SWITCH drivers. I have attached the links to both below. You mentioned that when you re-install the drivers, the problem goes away. Does it ever re-occur, or has it gone away for good. If it is coming back, when is it coming back? First verify that you are using the latest drivers and if you are still having problems, let us know. Thanks and have a great day!

more history:
- yes it is a random fault, it stiil fails sometimes even after I reinstall the drivers..
I already have nidaqmx8.1 and switch 3.1 installed..
I started off with NI development suite set of CD'd dated FEB 2006...all worked fine
I installed NI development suite set of CD'd dated MAY 2006 and then my problems started..
I changed the switch card and still got the same error within an hour..
I have just installed SW3.1 and we will see what happens.....If it fails, I am going back to SW3.0 version...if I can !!!

I am also seeing this issue with a PXI 2566. Randomly, when starting up the PXI chassis, the system will fail to initialize the card with error -200221. If I close out LabView and TestStand, and attempt to restart the card from MAX, the card is incommunicative. I have two systems which exhibit this behavior, and both are running updated drivers.
If I shut down the PXI chassis and restart the system, it may or may not issue the same error -200221. It can take several attempts at rebooting to resolve the issue. If however, on the first reboot, I go into MAX and reset the 2566, the problem is resolved, until it randomly occurs again. This can take days, weeks, or months.
Any ideas?
