Hi
I am trying to start an analog acquisition on a 6031E card, using a digital trigger. Basically, I have a signal going to a digital output (DO 0) that goes low to activate a valve. I would like to use that same digital signal to launch the acquisition. Using only a 6031E card, can I wire DO 0 to PFI line 0 in order to start an analog acquisition ? Or do I need an external triggering signal for this to work ? I have done a couple of test using the examples from DAQmx but I run into errors (device not recognized by National Instruments, etc...). Not sure what I am doing wrong.
Because of restrictive specifications beyond my decision, for the moment, this has to work assuming that the channels are configured in Traditionnal DAQ (I know it would be simpler to use DAQmx, but...). Therefore, do I have to set the AI Start VI before configuring the digital trigger (if using Traditionnal DAQ) ? Please let me know if my post is unclear.
Tech specs:
Labview 8.2
Traditional DAQ and DAQmx
PCI 6031E
(Possible access to a DIO card)
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the insight. I discussed this with an NI trainer and realized that a Legacy DAQ driver was actually in conflict with was I was trying to do with DAQmx. My issue is now resolved. I can write to digital port 0 and read off of my PFI line.
Thanks for your help.
