digi 5-Port USB AnyWhere Remote USB Over IP Extender in combination with NI USB-6008

Hello,

I'm trying to use a digi 5-port USB Anywhere ethernet hub with my NI USB-6008 multifunction DAQ.
When I connect the NI USB-6008 to the ethernet usb hub the pc detects the NI device and install the drivers.
When the driver installation is finnished I get the error message: "This device cannot start (CODE 10)"
All I can find out about code 10 is that it might be a driver fault of some kind, but I'm not shure.
Does anyone here know what the problem is?

Here is a link to the Ethernet USB device LINK

Best regards
Frozt

I have exactly the same problem with a Agilent E5813A which is very similar to the digi 5-Port USB AnyWhere unit you use.

Currently NI's USB DAQ devices are not supported with ethernet USB hubs.  We are aware of this limitation and are hoping to implement it in a future version of the driver.

Ok it is good to know but when I place the order to NI I asked if 6008 can use USB extender and no one was aware of this problem.

When do you think the driver will be updated? I presume that the 6009 has the same problem?

Now I need to find a solution because I have 4 USB 6008 to control with a PC which is 45m far from them. How could I do that? Could you recommend an equipement or give me more detail on the USB- 6008 protocol?

What I found on the Agilent E5813A is that isochronous devices are  not supported. What does it mean?

Excuse me I forgot something in my last reply.

Could you tell me if USB 6008 will work with the following extender:

The above references use 2 unit one local and one remote and not use directly the ethernet connection from PC as I understand.

Hello,

When is it possible to have a new driver for the USB-6008 that is fully functional with USB hubs / USB -> Ethernet devices?

Hello Frozt,

I have found a suitable extender from Black Box: IC244A-R2. (Around 150€)

It uses a local unit and a remote unit with a UTP cable between both unit.
I have tested the USB 6008 with this system and a 34m UTP cable and it works fine.
I don't know yet if it will be possible to add a USB hub at the remote side to control several 6008 units, in the Black Box user Guide it is written that each hub reduce the length by 10m.

Regards.

Hello,

I am also looking for a way to comunicate to a NI USB device (NI-9215) over ethernet. We purchased an ANYWHEREUSB/5 box in hopes it would solve the problem. However, windows doesn't fully recognize the NI devices anymore and MAX doesn't see that they are there at all. It is important that it be ethernet as there is a transparent fiberoptic link between the two ethernet links. Does anyone know of a product that will work with this or has a way of working around the issues invilved in using the AnywhereUSB/5 device?

Regrads,

Any progress on this? It has been about 5 years. Any chance there are drivers now which will work with an ethernet USB hub?

thanks
