I received this error when using a period in the channel name string for creating a virtual channel.
Is there a list of invalid characters somewhere? I checked LV help and didn't locate anything.

Charles,
Found this which does discuss what characters can be used. http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/BB06D0620FDD7ADB86256D2700557BFC

Hello mdesol,
To better answer your question, what NI DAQmx version do you have? What programming language or LabVIEW version are you using? What DAQ hardware are you using? Can you post a screenshot of this error message? Thank you

Hi Ali,
First of all thanks for your interest.
Ni-DAQmx 9.0.2, using LV 8.6, error is not related to the hardware...
Name to assign input when creating a virtual channel only accepts valid characters, and as my application uses names entered by the user I have to control the typed characters, to do so I need to know all the valid characters o the error will appear... so I think that this information should be some where...
for example _ is a valid character if is not the first one on the string... "_Speed" is an invalid name, appears the error -200552 "Speed_" is valid...
characters . + , are invalid, but the minus - is valid... I can try all the ASCII codes, but I think that help should mention something about it...
Regards,
Marc.

Hi Marc,
The information you need can be found in the DAQmx Help:
To find it, you can navigate to the page as follows:
I wish I could provide a direct link, but alas the DAQmx Help is not yet available online. However, it should be installed on your computer with DAQmx when using the default install options.
