compactDAQ

Hello,

We plan on using cDAQ-9184 headless ethernet chassis for 4 thermocouples and 4 voltage channels.

Our application requires monitoring of voltage at 40Hz and thermocouple monitoring of once per minute.

The plan is to use PXIe-1085 controller to acquire and log the data from cDAQ via ethernet.  The PXI controller will also be running TestStand automated test sequences concurrently with resources in PXI chassis.

Would anyone see any possible problems with this setup?

Thanks in advance.

Hi jharris

Having looked at the specifications of the equipment you've specified I can't see any reason that this wouldn't be possible, it's all well within the specifications of these products. Perhaps the only concern is that the cDAQ module is not deterministic therefore you can't absolutely guarantee 40Hz operation when compared to a RT host. If you've not purchased any equipment yet I'd highly recommend that you speak to one of our pre-sales engineers on 01635 523545

Kind Regards

Hi jharris66,

The 9184 won't have any issues running at 40 Hz and 1 Hz when doing a continuous buffered acquisition. What Chris was referring to is hardware timed single point measurements, which our USB based devices don't support because USB is not deterministic. Typically this is used for control applications. If you are only logging the data, the 9184 with the appropriate analog module will work great.
