VI logger error code -2147467259 during task startup

My VI Logger program managed to corrupt one of its config files. Has anyone determined which file is corrupted and a simple fix for that file?

Thanks
Bob

Hi Bob,

Can you please let me know what version of VI logger you are using?
What version of DAQ driver? DAQ board you are using? What Opearting system?

Can you let me know steps to reproduce the error. Please provide me with the information required and I will take a look into it.

If it is VI Logger version 1.01, try deleting all .shm files (stridm.shm, strtm.shm, tridm.shm, trnm.shm).

Kalyan,

Running on Windows XP.

Using VI Logger V1.1, NI-DAQ 7.2, logging from a PXI-6031e DAQ card.

I had deleted some executions under one of my VI Logger tasks. When I exited NI-MAX, the system crashed with a "blue screen of death". When I re-booted, started MAX and tried to start one of my VI Logger tasks, I started getting the error. Other VI Logger tasks generate the same error.

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing VI Logger, to no avail.

Regards,
Bob

Hi Bob,

I have attached MSI Blast utility. This should remove all NI software components. Remove DAQ cards from your system by shutting down the computer before you run this utility.
How to use the MSIBlast Utility:

1. Download the attached file, msiBlast.exe, and save it to the desktop or local hard drive.

2. Double click on the downloaded msiBlast.exe file to run the executable.

3. Choose the Show NI Installers Only selection.

4. Using (Ctrl+Left Mouse Click) select all National Instruments Software that appears in MSIBlast.

5. Uninstall all of the National Instruments MSI Registry entries.

Make sure that you do not have any of your files saved in the "C:\VXIpnp", "C:\Program Files\National Instruments", or "C:\WINDOWS\nidaq" folders. If you do, copy them to a different location. If you are concerned about keeping old virtual channels and your SCXI setup intact, then backup the "C:\WINDOWS\niconfig.daq" file, too. Delete all folders and files mentioned above.

Shut down your computer. After this uninstallation, install VI Logger and DAQ drivers.

Please try this and let me know if it works for you.
Also, I strongly recommend you to upgrade your VI Logger to version 2.0. It is improved version and also powerful.

Kalyan,

I appreciate your response. Unfortunately, this problem has occurred on a production test system with a full suite of NI software installed on it. We spent 2 days getting all of the NI software loaded on this computer, all of the configurations set properly, and the test system validated. I would hope that there is a simpler solution than deleting everything and re-loading from scratch.

Regards,

Bob

Bob,

The error code you are getting is a general Windows OLE error code.  The essentially communicates that something went wrong in communicating with the OLE features of an application.  It doesn't say why and therefore does not help much.

I saw your posting as well as another that had the most descriptive resolution process that a couple of customers have performed (http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=250&message.id=7030&requireLogin=False).

I see you have tried a re-install without success.  It seems, as you have indicated, that a configuration file has been corrupted.  As you can see (link above), other have suggested various levels of correcting the configuration files including deleting them so that new config files are created.  One writer, Bejo, was able to back up his setting before deleting config files such that he was able to recover some settings.

As Kalyanramu  suggests, VILogger 2.0 is going to be the more stable and full featured version of the application, but there is no guarantee that it will fix your problem without deleting the offending source of the problem (file?).  His recommendation solution of cleaning the machine will most likely work but is the last resort solution.

My first approach would be to back up the directory C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MAX\Data\, then delete it and retry your application.  You may find that your application works but that you have lost some configuration information.  If so, you can replace files a few at a time to see 1) the source of the problem, and to 2) try and restore configuration settings.

Some or all the files in this directory are not deleted upon un-installing your NI software.  They are met to persist between re-installation so that your configuration settings are not lost.

VILogger 2.0 lite stopped every 2 hours with an error about too high data aquitition rate.......and suggests setting some parameters in the Advanced tab that was grayed out in the lite version. I just bought the full version and SURPRISE..... there is nothing in the advanced tab to be set that was not already present in the lite version. Must be the latest joke (vaporeware)  from NI.

More, it was advertised as providing management for database. Since I had converted to Excel thousands of records, manually, I imagined some tools to do the same thing automatically. There is absolutelly no management tools or help working with the records.

So much for  the latest and greatest , powerfull,  full version 2.0 .
