USB DAQ devices do not show up in MAX

OK, i could have checked it before i posted the reply but I found out that i need an updated version of the update service. A little funny that it tried to update the update through the update service that does not work 🙂

I had a similar problem running Windows 7 in Bootcamp. After I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate my PCI-6251 was showing up in Device Manager but not in MAX.

I went to Device manager, right clicked on the PCI-6251 and selected uninstall (without uninstalling the driver). Then I rebooted the computer and this time MAX recognized the board.

I thought I would share in case someone else was having a similar problem.

Having the same problem with my new NI USB-6218 device.  Running Labview 7.1 on a Dell 6400 Mobile Workstation, Windows Vista 32bit.   Tried both version 8.61 and 8.71 of the NI-DAQmx install with same result.   The device is recognized in Device Manager (which says it is running properly) but will not show up in MAX or Labview..   NI Device Monitor is running, but doesn't acknowlege when the 6218 is plugged in.  NI Device Loader service is running.   Have uninstalled and reinstalled.   I am not using later versions of NI-DAQms due to running Labview 7.1.  MAX version 4.4.1.

Hello RLHart,

Have you tried repairing the driver?  Uninstalling and reinstalling will often not fix issues if something becomes corrupted.  Please look at this document for instructions on how to repair NI software.  In addition to repairing your DAQmx software you may also want to try upgrading to the newest version possible.  Please see the DAQmx compatibility chart to see what version you can use with LabVIEW 7.1.
