USB 6009 - mysterious problem

Have mysterious problems with my new USB 6009.

I'm using LabView 7 on MacOS-X 10.3.8.

All vi's of DAQmx show "ERROR 15 - Ressource not found".

Then I tested:
- "lsdaq" shows the device
- "nidatalogger" works
- "mxbaseconfig" doesn't recocgnize it!

I realy have no idea know what to do now?

Thank you for helping.

Greetings,
Stephan

Hi StephanSW,

From your description, it seems like you're using DAQmx VIs in your program? If so, this should be the cause of the error. USB-6009 is currently supported by DAQmx Base VIs. DAQmx Base installs with various LabVIEW examples which would be a good starting point.

Thanks,
Lesley Y.

I recall seeing something in the ReadMe.rtf file that came with NI-DAQmx Base 1.4 that said you need to download revised firmware to the USB 6008/9 devices. I have no experience with this, just thought it was something that's easy to overlook and might cause peculiar problems.

Hi!,

I have exactly the same problem, but under Windows XP. Mx base config says "there are no devices". The tasks do not show up either when browsing with the VI. I will check the thing about the firmware update. Maybe that is the ticket, but this do not explain why the tasks do not show up. A good question would be, WHERE is the VI browsing? maybe the CFG files are in the wrong location.

I happend to stumble over the same issue and found a solution.
The problem really seems to be the firmware in the USB-device. There is only one way (I think) to make USB600x devices work with linux:
You have to start MAX (on a Windows-box) , go to tools - NI-DAQmx configuration - NI-DAQmx USB Driver Selector.
Press "Switch" and select the BASE-Driver for your USB-Device. This seems to write something into the device's flash memory. After this procedure you can use the device with linux and DAQmxBase
Funny thing is, mxbaseconfig still can't see it, but nidatalogger finds it.

Hope that helps, even though this thread seems to be rather old...

Does mxbaseconfig not see it, or does it simply refuse to create tasks for it? On Macintosh the M-series boards aren't supported by mxbaseconfig. You can see them in the device list but you can't select them.

You can't even see it in the mxbaseconfig. Why? No idea! I'm just happy it works with "create task" (e.g. with dev1/ai0)
