Hi all,
I would like to know whether it is possible to not have logic for scan engine in the NI9144 FPGA when using 3rd party modul which does not support it, to save some space?
Is it possible to get rid of it in this case?
Thanks for the replies

Hello Duri,
This will unfortunately not be possible. The Scan Engine logic and some other components are needed in order for the 9144 to operate properly. We'll need the user-defined I/O variables (UDVs) of the Scan Engine to synchronize the slave's FPGA data with the master's real-time processing, and to transfer data between the controller's real-time program and the expansion chassis' FPGA program.
If you're running out of space on the FPGA then we can look into some other resource-saving optimizations.
I also wanted to let you know that we have a forum dedicated to Industrial Communications. Our EtherCAT experts monitor that forum, and it's a little less crowded so your post is unlikely to be neglected. Please see the link below if you have any additional EtherCAT questions.

Thanks for your question and have a nice day!

Hi Alex,
thank you for your reply.
I knew about UDVs but I must have overlooked that it is part of Scan Engine.
Thanks for the link to industrial communications forum.
