Hi Geri,

It still isn't very clear from this post what the exact problem is.  Please clarify by answering the following questions:

1.  Which digital lines are giving you trouble?
2.  How does the output not work?  Is it always writing HIGH or LOW, or is it just floating?
3.  What are you connecting to these digital lines?  Have you tried disconnecting all external circuitry and measuring the output with a voltmeter?
4.  When have you seen this troublesome behavior?  Are you running an application written in LabVIEW or some other programming language?  Are you using MAX test panels?
5.  Are you getting any specific error messages?  If so, please give the error code and complete description.

This information will greatly help us to pinpoint the cause of the problem.

Best regards,

Hi Jarod,

Please find bellows the answers of the questions you have asked:

1.  Which digital lines are giving you trouble?

We can not switch HIGH/LOW NI DAQ outputs and read NI DAQ inputs state.

2.  How does the output not work?  Is it always writing HIGH or LOW, or is it just floating? - It i
 see 1.

3.  What are you connecting to these digital lines?  Have you tried disconnecting all external circuitry and measuring the output with a voltmeter?

We measured outputs with multimeter - in case that DIO switch is GND - voltage is 0, DIO - +5V - outputs voltage is +5V , DIO - float- output voltage is floating.

4.  When have you seen this troublesome behavior?  Are you running an application written in LabVIEW or some other programming language?  Are you using MAX test panels?
We are runing application written on C/C++.We use Intermat tool channels to rule NI DAQ outputs and read inputs

5.  Are you getting any specific error messages?  If so, please give the error code and complete description.

When we run Test Panels from MAX (device appears there - MAX recognize it),we received:

"The device is not responding to the selected base address"

Please advice us how could we set properly base address for NI 6508 ?What is the correct base address value?

My ICQ is 138057936 - please contact me if it is possible to you

Thank you in advance!

Hi GERI,

Thanks for providing the additional info.  In your answer to question #3, it sounds like the digital output lines are working as expected.  Perhaps I misunderstood, but if the output is reading 0V when set to LOW and 5V when set to HIGH, that is expected.

What I am more concerned about is the "base address" error you are getting.  Please see the KnowledgeBase "Not Responding to the Selected Base Address" Error and try the steps listed there.  When it suggests uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, please make sure that you have have Traditional DAQ 7.4.1 installed, which is the most recent version of the driver that supports the DAQPad-6508.  You can check your version by expanding the software tab in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) and clicking on the listing for "Traditional NI-DAQ".  If you have a lower version that 7.4.1, please download and install this version of the driver from the following page:

Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) Version 7.4.1 for Windows 2000/NT/XP

Hopefully one of these steps will resolve this issue, but let us know if you are still having trouble.

Best regards,

Hi Jarrod,
We have the same problem with out NI DAQ in spite of :

1.Update BIOS of motherboad in our test pc.
2.Re-instal Windows XP , re-install SP2, update OS
3.Re-install drivers with 7.4.1 version
3.Try with another computer also with Windows XP with 7.4.1 drivers

I have a question: I saw that there is flash EEPROM in NI DAQ 6508 - is it possible to flash it - if there has been power strike or smth like that to some of NIDAQ outputs may be flash content has allready being damaged. Please advice me how could we flash NI DAQ EEPROM ?May be this will solve problem and restore original settings?

Thank you in advance!

Hi GERI,

There is no way for you to flash the configuration info on the EEPROM.  If you suspect that the device has been damaged in some way, you can contact technical support either by phone or e-mail to get your device repaired.

Best regards,
