PCMCIA card on pcexpress port

Hi,

I have got a new Laptop with the newer pcexpress, I have seen a Dueladapter that converts the port bact to PCMCIA, have anyone used this devices for connecting the 6036E PCMCIA DAQCard and if so did it work, has my al;ternative will be to buy another Laptop with a PCMCIA port.

Have NI done any investigations about using there PCMCIA cards on newer laptops?

Hi Phil,

NI haven't done any testing with 3rd party converters from PCMCIA to the new ExpressCard format or to USB.

If the converter is supposed to act as an invisible conversion then it should work - but we cannot guarantee this.

It is still possible to purchase laptops which have a PCMCIA slot or two in them, which is what we would recommend you to purchase if you intend to use a PCMCIA card.

The other alternative would be to look at a USB data acquisition device, of which there are many available, which would give you compatibility on multiple machines, both laptops and desktops.

I did verify that DAQCard-6036E wirks with the DuelAdapter.
I am using NIDAQ 7.2.0f1 and DuelAdapter Version 1.0.0 software.  I had to upgrade from NIDAQ 6.9 to 7.2 In order to resolve the "card is not responding to first IRQ" issue.

SETUP:
DELL Inspiron 1720 (windows XP)
DuelAdapter (driver ver 1.0.0)
DAQCard 6036E
NIDAQ 7.2.0f1
Tested with LabView 6.1
