New USB-6009 not working with mxBase on OS X

Hi there,

I was previously using a USB-6009 on Mac OS X (Labview 7.1, mx Base v1.?) with no problems. Now I bought a new USB-6009, and I'm having trouble getting it to work with my system. I was told that I could just swap out my old one with no need for re-configuring. Alas, that was not the case. My problem is as follows:

lsdaq recognizes the device, but mxbaseconfig does not. When I run mxbaseconfig I don't see the device listed on the main page. When I go to add a task, it does show up, but the "okay" button is not highlighted, so I cannot actually create the new task.

The vi that I'm running reads in 7 single-ended analog signals. When I run the vi, it gives me an error stating that the channel isn't recognized by the device. This is probably because I want to read ai0:6, and the default configuration is ai0:1 or something like that.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? Another possibly necessary piece of info is that, for this new USB-6009, they sent me the Windows version of mxBase. The device is not system dependent, is it?

Thanks.

Jenni.

Hello Jenni,

The USB-6009 has firmware on it that enables it to communicate with the driver.  It should have been shipped with the appropriate firmware already loaded to work with DAQmx Base on your MAC OS.  It is possible that yours does not have the correct firmware on it.  If you have access to a Windows machine I recommend following the instructions in this Knowledge Base to load the correct firmware for use with DAQmx Base onto your USB-6009.

Also, make sure that you have the latest driver (NI-DAQmx Base 2.0) installed.

Finally, you may want to take a look at this discussion forum which discusses an issue very similar to what you have described.

Hopefully this helps.

Regards,
Jennifer O.
