I am looking for a replacement AD/DA system (daqNet Acoustic Data Conversion System: https://www.abaco.com/products/daqnet/p2028 2).
The daqNet is unfortunately no longer available for purchase, and I am researching replacement options. Can anyone recommend a product configuration?
I was looking at the CompactRIO or the PXI chassis, but I honestly have no idea which components I could or should use. My specialty is in software, not hardware. With our current solution, the daqNet pulls data in, converts it to digital, and passes it through to our custom-built application for processing and display. Then it accepts input from the custom application and converts it to analog for output.
System Details:
32 analog audio channels in
16 digital audio channels in
8 analog audio channels out
6 digital audio channels out
596.44kHz sampling rate
100 mV RMS to 3.55 V RMS (5 V Peak) input range
3.55 Volts RMS (5 V Peak) output range
85 dB dynamic range on digital outputs
I've attached the datasheet, and based on the physical configuration, I believe we have the daqNet-109.

Any assistance is GREATLY appreciated!

Looks like a bigger project that even NI may directly take up. Just the forum's help will not be sufficient to make your successfully migrate into the new solution.
Skimming through the manual, this seems to be a very specialized equipment and NI may not have hardware that directly replaces daqNet.
Are you really required to sample at 596.44 kHz? is this for ultrasonic signals?

Yes; I've been told the daqNet is a very specialized piece of equipment... I'm still trying to wrap my head around what we actually need, as this project was shelved for awhile, and there's no one around who has in-depth knowledge as to why we're doing what we're doing.
We're using 2 daqNet-1200 and 1 daqNet-1300 daughter modules to process sonobuoy signals (passive and active), so the modules theoretically could process subsonic and ultrasonic wavelengths...

It looks like a significant investment in terms of HW and also the application development. If you could source the daqNet HW from somewhere , it will keep you going for a long time to find a suitable replacement.
In general, you will most probably need the PXIe system for high bandwidth data exchange.

Thanks; I was thinking about the PXI too, but I amd not sure which modules would be valid for what I'm trying to do.... Can you provide any suggestions? There are just so many options, and none of them specify audio signals specifically.
I've contacted a source to try and get some spare daqNets, but I need to provide options to the client.

Related to sampling rates; this is from our original SSDD:
"To accommodate input signals from both digital and analog sources the sampling rate of the daqNet 1200 is set to be greater than twice the highest frequency component present in the input signals.
The digital source encodes data at a bit rate of 224 kbps while the analog composite data signals have to be digitized and processed at a sampling rate of 45.88kHz in accordance with the legacy digital demultiplexing algorithm.
Therefore the daqNet 1200 A/D daughter module samples analog and digital input signals at 596.44 kHz (i.e. 13 x 45.88 kHz and more than twice 224 kHz)."
I'm not sure where the 13 comes from, because even 10 x 45.88 kHz is more than twice 224 kHz, but that's what's in our document. (And unfortunately, I have no one to ask!)

When it comes to Analog Audio, it must be a DSA instrument - https://www.ni.com/en-us/shop/category/sound-and-vibration.html?page=1&BusTypeFormFactor=PXI%20Expre...
What kind of protocols do you use for the digital audio part?
You can use the Digital Audio Acquisition and Generation Toolkit with supported FPGA hardware to work with PDM, I2S or TDM protocols.
