NI-DAQmx ANSI-C and MFC

Are there any gotchas if I try to interface NI-DAQmx ANSI C code with an MFC C++ (Visual Studio 6) front end application?  If there are gotchas, would putting the DAQ code in a DLL help? 

I want to do the straight DAQ - C++ interface rather than Measurement Studio because of funds and lack of time to get familiar with it.

I want to use NI-DAQmx rather than the legacy NI-DAQ because of its better mutli-threading.
