NI 9469 RJ45 pinout

Is there documentation on the pin assignements for the RJ45 connector on the NI 9469 module. I'm lookinig to optimize the number of copper conductors required to implement synchronization between multiple cDAQ chassis.

Hi Peter,

The Operating Instructions and Specifications page for the 9469 has a chart for connecting lines (page 8, and explained in page 7), as well as a list of suggested topologies for synchronizing multiple devices (page 10). It can be found here:

If you are asking about the physical wiring of the connectors on the ports, you can visualize a slightly abstracted model by viewing the Device Pinouts in NI MAX. Here is the image it shows for reference:

In that vein, if you are looking to breakout the RJ45 cable into its components, so to speak, to the best of my knowledge they consist of 4 differential pairs; the actual wiring may vary from cable to cable (straight-through vs crossover, etc.). Each listed pin in the above diagram is likely requiring a differential pair on the cable itself.

Hi Daniel,

We are trying to break out the RJ45 wiring to an interface that doesn't use RJ45 connectors and are looking to get a better understanding of which each pin on the NI 9469 inputs and outputs are used for. We are limited in available copper, so knowing whether or not we can omit some of the wires for each RJ45 port would be helpful.

Why you have this limitation with the copper?

Spliting out the RJ45 cable is not  something that NI recommend. That configuration is not officially supported. The best way to work with the module is unsing the RJ45 cable without changes.
