How to use DAQ NI USB-6008 with Visual Designer software

I have a programming software called Visual Designer produced by Intelligent Instrument Co. USA. I well trained for this software and I find it easy and sufficiently constructed for my needs. Recently, I bought a new DAQ model NI USB-6008 from National Instruments Co., USA. But my visual designer software could not detect my new DAQ. Please, what should I do to make the essential link between my new DAQ and my programing software?

I presume that Visual Designer (I don't know it, myself) works through the NI-DAQ driver? and is compatible with NI-DAQmx?

If so, then to make the connection to a USB-6008 you will need to make sure you are running NI-DAQmx 7.5. USB 6008/9 is not supported by traditional NI-DAQ at all, and by NI-DAQmx starting only with version 7.5.

Hope this helps!

Hi All-

John is correct- the NI-DAQmx 7.5 driver supports the USB-6008/9 and should be configured using the instructions in this KB.

The driver doesn't support Visual Designer directly, but you should be able to call into the NI-DAQmx .dll.  NI-DAQmx natively supports C++ and VB 6.0, .NET, LabVIEW 7.x, and CVI 7.x.  If you choose to call the .dll from your ADE the NI-DAQmx C Reference manual should be helpful and will be installed at Start>>Programs>>National Instruments>>NI-DAQ.

Thanks-
