A book that I found very helpful years ago when I was first setting up lab instrumentation was Grounding and Shielding Techniques in Instrumentation by Ralph Morrison. It's heavy-duty, but clearly written and very thorough. On the other hand, I once overheard the supervisor saying to a grad student, "the amazing thing is he actually *reads* that kind of stuff"
