Floating or True Ground

I wish to control flowrate of a Masterflex 7523-40 Peristalitic pump by connecting the Input (0-10 V) to a SCB-68 Connector block and a AT-M10-16E-10 DAQ card. I have verified that my VI and hardware are functioning with a multimeter, but Masterflex support brought up the issue of the ground. I'm using Pin 55 - AOGND on the Input Common wire of the pair.

I am stumped. I am guessing my ground set-up is either incorrect or the pump remote control internal wiring is faulty. I hope this forum can help me eliminate one of these options.

Thanks,

Hi Dale,

It sounds like you have everything connected correctly. Pins 54 and 55 are the analog output grounds and pins 21 and 22 are the analog output channels for E series devices on the SCB-68.

If you would like to double check the multimeter:
1. connect the analog output channel directly to the analog input channel - for example: connect a wire between pins 22 and 33 (analog output 0 and analog input 1). You do not need to connect the grounds together in this case because the input and output channels share the same ground.
2. go to Measurement and Automation Explorer
3. under devices and interfaces>>traditional NI-DAQ Devices>>AT-MIO-16-E-10: run a test panels
4. you can update the output voltages and check the input readings.

Regards,
Hal L.
