Event triggering using hardware.

I am a student in the Experimental Physics department at NUI Maynooth, Ireland. We are using a NI USB-6008 DAC for signal acqusition and I am interested in finding out if there is some way of using the hardware to monitor for a trigger event without the software having to be involved. We are using LabView 7.1 for our programming needs.

We would like the hardware to wait for a falling edge in a ramp voltage to start taking measurements of a voltage on a second channel, we just need to know if this is possible?

Hello,
The USB-6008 (data sheet) does have the ability to perform hardware triggered analog input operations.  However, the trigger signal must be a digital TTL signal.  So, if your falling edge isn't 5V - 0V (or something close to that), then you will probably need some external circuitry.

Thanks for the help, it's near 0-5V so we should have no troubles. Thanks a lot.
