Does software interfacing differ between PCI and PCIE models of a certain DAQ card?

Solved!

Hi,

I'm writing because I have a piece of software that is used to dealing with (I believe) NI PCI-6259 DAQ cards. However, I have a computer that has more PCIe slots than PCI slots. If I buy a NI PCIe-6259 card, will that make any difference from the software's point of view?

Thanks!

Hi emilyjane,

That seems more like a question for the author of your software, but I confirmed that both the PCI and PCIe versions of the 6259 have the same hardware specifications and device pinouts, so I don't believe it will be an issue.  However, you really should consult with the software author for the final say.  The resource I consulted is below.  Have a good day!

High-Speed M Series Multifunction Data Acquisition - 16-Bit, up to 1.25 MS/s, up to 80 Analog Inputs

Thank you, Drew. I did check with the software developper and found out that the software does not care about which model of DAQ card.
