We've developed a general-purpose data logging system using CVI 5.0.1 and NI-DAQ. When running on a laptop it seems to work fine until the lid is closed, when it stops logging (although the application is still running). I assume it's some sort of power saving process but is there a way of disabling it? The laptop is a Dell latitude C600 running Windows 98. Thanks for any help. Chris.
If you check the power settings for the laptop in the control panel, you'll probably find that the laptop is set to powersave on peripherals when it hibernates or when the lid is closed.
You can usually set this to happen 'never'. I think this should fix your problem. Sorry I can't be more specific about where to find these settings, but I'm using XP.
