Analog Input Software Triggering

I need an example for a school excercise. In this excercise i would like to trigger an analog input signal. If the signal is higher than the level, the programm should read in 3000 samples (sample rate 1000Hz). In the NI examples I have found the following program:
Cont Acq&Graph Voltage-Analog SW Trigger.vi.
It is perfect, but in this program, you can only adjust how many samples to read per iteration!!! When I say the program should read in 2000 Samples and the signal is after 2500 samples higher than my trigger level.. i have only 500 samples... and that`s my problem!
Can somebody help me??

Dear Michael,

This is not the best example for your application. i would suggest you to have look a the example Acq&Grapg Voltage-int Clk-HW trig retart.vi.

I modified it for your application and I give you here the Acq&Graph Voltage Clk-HW Trig.vi
