Absloute Encoder

I am in search of an Absolute Encoder model (Linear or rotary) which can measure the Heave (Linear displacement), position and velocity which can be easily measured with NI DAQ system. I am using PXI NI DAQ6251.

I searched some OMRON and Autonics encoder but they use a lot of Digital signals with clock which is very difficult to measure.

Please suggest if someone did measurement with Absolute Encoder, which model is being generally used?

You need to provide more details to get any kind of meaningful recommendations:

What is the overall range of motion?

What resolution is required?

What is the maxiumum velocity?

How rapidly does the velocity change (or, equivalently, What is maximum acceleration)?

Here is the information:

Maximum displacement is 1000mm

Range is 660 to 1000mm

Velocity:1.5m/s

Resolution we want is 1mm

wave period: 5sec

Acceleration(appx)=0.3m/s2

please suggest some model of absolute encoder compatble with DAQ 6251

I do not have any recommendations, but now that your requirements are clarified, someone else may have suggestions.
