read encoder finishing late above 100 hz

Hi, I'm trying to read the values of 4 encoders on 4 axes in a timed loop at 500 Hz. The loop finishes late due to using the read encoder position.flx block, when this block is disabled the loop runs ok. Is there a maximum rate at which you can read the encoders? I've dropped the loop down to 100 Hz and the performance improves but still finishes late. I'm using ni-motion on a 734 series
