primatics 7354 hall

can the 7354 motion controller be used with the Primatics MDC0400 when using hall sensors??  Can the Hall sensors be mapped to another port?  If so how???

Hi JF,

The 7350-series motion controllers will work with Hall Effect sensors, because the 7350 supports onboard commutation.  Refer to pages 2-6 to 2-10 in the 7350 User Manual to see which digital lines to connect to the sensors.

Using this method, there is no need to route these signals elsewhere.  Why do you want to map the sensors to another port?

Please note none of the the standard servo drive options for the MDC400 allow the motion controller, such as the 7354, to commutate the motor from the hall sensors.  In the standard drives the hall sensor signals are not made available to the motion controller..  An unpublished drive option, D2, will allow the motion controller to perform commutaton, but for each axis of control, two axes are consumed from the motion controller.  Please contact the factory for more information.
