I have a PCI -7354 motion control card, and would like to implement a different control strategy, that is not PID (i.e adaptive control or fuzzy control). Is this possible? if yes, how do go about programming the device?

tMorbi,
the PCI-7354 as all NI 73xx motion control devices are designed to meet the requirements of standard motion control applications, which is the vast majority of all motion control applications. The control algorithm is defined in the board's firmware which can't be changed by the user.
If your application requires a more advanced control algorithm, NI offers a good solution with the NI SoftMotion Development module for LabVIEW. This module allows you to convert any NI platform with realtime capabilities into a motion control system with user-defineable features and control algorithms.
NI SoftMotion is typically used with NI-RIO based hardware, as this combination provides the best performance. A good starting point for more detailed information is the NI CompactRIO Machine Control Resource Kit.
I hope this helps,
