I have motion control system with the following components: PCI-7340 motion controller in a host PC, UMI-7764, P70360 drive and the motor itself T21NRLC. The motor operates fine in open-loop mode, but I want it to operate in closed-loop mode as well. The problem here is the feedback.
As I understand from MAX, the feedback can be done via an encoder or an ADC channel. And all I got is a bunch of unused pins on the J4 connector of the P70360 drive.
What are pins 10-18 good for anyway? According to the manual, these pins are inputs (>). And pin 20? Pin 21 and 22 are output signals (<), named Out+ (Motion Node Active) and Out- (Motion Node Active) respectively.
Now the main question is can I use some of these pins as feedback?

I believe your encoder gets wired up to the UMI-7764 terminal blocks, not the drive.
Here is the manual:

Hi,
As AK2DM mentioned, in order to get in formation from your encoder, you will need to wire it up to a UMI 7764.
Pins 10-18 are digital input lines that you can configure to be associated with a move select, jog or fault. The options are discussed on page 30 or 31 of the manual.
