Robot arm project

Hi,

I am currently working on the NI LabVIEW Robotics Starter Kit. I want to be able to pick up balls. I though of using a robot arm to achieve this (you can suggest another method for picking up balls).

Please suggest an appropriate robot arm that can be controlled autonomously by the robot and how do I go about it. The Robotics Starter Kit has no USB port.

Thanks.

Hi Jidekene,

I have seen another project use a Lynxmotion robotic arm and program it with the Starter Kit.

This thread also has someone trying something similar, it should give you a foundation to start with.

In the video here someone managed to get it a robotic arm controlled by a wiimote!

I hope this is an appropriate arm for you!

Hi,

some years ago I have created a little tradeshow demo with cRIO and a Lynxmotion robotic arm:

Here is a video from this demo.

The joints of the Lynxmotion robotic arm are driven by simple model building servos, so it's not a big deal to adapt the arm to a cRIO or sbRIO system, that is capable of driving PWM signals.

Kind regards,

Jochen
