I am trying to install Measurement Studio 8.5.0 fir Visual Studio 2008 and I get "TargetDir is undefined, the directory table seems malformed". This installed fine on my first machine.
Alot of the results on this forum seem to relate this message to Vista, however I am trying to install on XP. I ran the install with the /log switch and have attached it to this post.
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Alex

Hi Alex,
Sorry to hear of the troubles you are having with this installer. I have a few things you can try short of a OS reinstall.
1) Please make sure you are logged in as Administrator (not a user with admin priveledges, unless the priveledge is Domain Admin)
2) Run the installer again.
3) If 2 did not work copy the CD to a folder on your C drive and install from the HDD.
4) Defrag your HDD
5) Run "CHKDSK /R" to look for bad sectors/clusters on the HDD.
6) Are you trying to install to a C or D drive?
7) Can you try the installer on another machine? If this works then it is a problem with the OS / other software installed on the system and you will need to rebuild.

Thanks for the reply.
I had found a similar response on another thread and had tried running as admin, copying locally and also creating a new admin user. The installer does work on other machines.
I figured something was up with the machine, so I created a new Virtual Machine and it worked fine on there, I have therefore scrapped the original installation and am now using the new virtual machine.
Thanks
Alex
