How to Measure Transients using c-DAQ Modules

I need to measure a system for potential transient/surge voltages as well as ESD events.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I may do this using c-DAQ modules?  Will I need external circuitry or can I do this directly with the modules?

Hello, 

 

First of all, can you tell me more about the characteristics of these transients that you want to measure. I want to make sure that your input is going to fit within the limitations of cdaq devices
