How much cache do the new 45nm Intel Quad-core processors have? 12MB? 3MB per core?  I want.....

I have been trying to learn more about the limitations of multicore CPUs, and I think I have learned a lot from your experience here.  I am trying to figure out the limitations when processing very large images for a project I am involved with.  It looks like one thread per core is the optimal number when the images are larger than the cache.
