imaq not shown in devices and interfaces

I have Labview 8.0 Development suite and I and I have installed the evaluation copy of Vision Development Module and the Vision Aquisition software, as well as the IMAQ-USB software. I am trying to connect a USB camera (Coherent LaserCam HR) to labview but  'NI-IMAQ Devices'  does not appear anywhere in the 'Devices and interfaces' folder in the Measurement and Automation Explorer with or without my USB camera connected.

Shouldn't  'NI-IMAQ Devices'  appear in MAX regardless of whether there are any camera devices connected or not? Why does this folder not show up in my MAX?

Danny,

Thanks for using the National Instruments forums. The "NI-IMAQ Devices" folder will only appear if MAX has detected a valid camera that uses the NI-IMAQ driver. The IMAQ-USB driver is completely seperate from the regular NI-IMAQ drivers, and unfortunately do not show up as folder in MAX. These drivers only allow you access to your USB cameras through LabVIEW, as they use DirectShow to access the manufactuer's configuration screens. Hope this clears things up!
