camera with advanced features

Hi all,

I have a requirement for a vision system that analyses holes of size range 30-150 microns to the nearest micron. The holes to inspect will vary in distance by about 3mm. And I only have 180mm height for the camera to fit in. I think I can get cameras the zoom under programatic control etc. I also would like the camera to be supported by NI-MAX and LabVIEW where possible. The camera does not need to support colour.

Do any of you experts out there have any advice for me?

TIA

Hi,

I don't have a camera to recommend directly, however one of our alliance members, Amfax ( http://www.amfax.co.uk/ ) has done a similar application already. (Ask for James)

I'd suggest you start by talking to them.

Thanks

Hi,

I should have said - you need to work out what depth of field you need (if any - if you're backlighting the holes then is there going to be any light flaring = single point light source etc) and what resolution you need to measure the holes to.
Also, how are you planning to move the item under inspection around, or do you need a wide field of view?

What speed do you need to work at aswell? (Frame rate to include your analysis time will be affected by the image size)

That way you can work out the lense options you need and the resolution of the camera required and also potentially which connecting bus you need.

Hope that helps

Thanks
