Dear Sir/Mam
I am facing a problem in one of my applications, the problem statement is:
The moment I plug in the Firewire Card in the PCI slot of my PC (the configuration of which is stated below) the system does not respond to windows shut down through Start Menu a forced ,manual Shut down needs to be implemented for the same.
Once the card is removed from the PCI slot the Shut Down functionality of the PC starts working normally.
System Configuration:
Looking forward to a quick response from your side

Hello,
A few questions for you:
1. Which IEEE 1394 card are you using? Is it the National Instruments PCI-8252?
2. Have you tried using the card in another PC with a similar setup?
3. Have you tried placing the card in other PCI slots on your system?
4. Do you get the same results when you un-install the NI-IMAQ 1394 driver?
The behavior you described usually points to a problem with the Windows subsystems which may require a BIOS update from your motherboard manufacturer or some other patch from Microsoft. When you install an IEEE 1394 card on your system, Windows will use the Windows IEEE 1394 driver and no National Instruments Software. The best way to test if it is a problem with the National Instruments driver is to completely uninstall the NI-IMAQ 1394 driver from your system. If the problem still occurs it is definitely a Windows problem. Another thing I noted is that you are using an older version of the driver. There is a free upgrade available from 1.5 to 2.0 that I would recommend if your application will allow it (ie it is not compiled as an executable).
