USB Borescope with NI Vision Software

Hi,

Does anybody know whether I can use a USB-connected portable video borescope, such as this: http://www.fiberscope.net/servlet/the-56/USB-Video-Borescope%2C-usb/Detail, with NI's Vision Development Module (+ USB driver)? If not, does anybody know where can I get a similar system (doesn't have to be USB) that can?

Hi Shazlan,
The article that MikeS81 linked you to is a good resource with regards to device compatibility. As mentioned in the article, keep in mind that any USB-based video devices you want to use with the Vision Development Module must be DirectShow-compliant. If you are not sure about whether a particular device is complaint (I could not tell from the link you posted whether or not that borescope was DirectShwo-compliant), I would recommend contacting the manufacturer and asking them directly.

Thanks guys for the reply. I've communicated with the OEM and here's the reply I got:

"I think it is DS-compliant. OS determines this videoscope it as a usual web-camera. We provide all the necessary drivers. The software beautifully works with Microsoft 2000/XP."

I'm not too familiar with the Direct-Show thingie, but if the OS sees the camera as a typical web-cam, do I have sufficient ground to think that it is Direct Show compliant?

I obviously can't say with certainty, but if it behaves like most webcams do in Windows 2000/XP, then it is most likely DirectShow compliant.
